February is the fantastic month that people love to come to Nuevo Vallarta and all the fishermen that love to fish here. Not only we have some of the friendliest people, romantic beaches, and incredible restaurants Puerto Vallarta boasts one of the top places to fish in February. Fishing in Nuevo Vallarta can’t beat this month.
Why is it so nice in Vallarta in February? Fantastic fishing and some of the nicest people in the world. The inshore fishing has been in high gear with all kinds of pelagic fish being caught. Some of the good eating fish are California Bonita, Spanish mackerel, and the tough fighting mahi-mahi.
The fishing techniques have ranged from slow live bait troll to deep diving rapalas and cut bait. All three have kept the rods bent. It has just depended on what the fish were looking for on a given day.
The water temperatures have been like a toilet seat. Up and down with most places holding around 73 degrees in the bay. Overall the Nuevo Vallarta fishing has been fantastic. Most of our trips have been from four to six hrs. The most popular boat has been the 28 ft super panga and the 40 ft offshore boats. See more about deep sea fishing prices in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico.
Offshore fishing has been like a light switch. On and off all month long for January and we can expect the same for February. The major difference is the water temperature is moving up little by little. Each week we get closer to spring fishing. Then the fishing turns on and just doesn’t stop. Everyone enjoys the nonstop action. From inshore to offshore the fishing will be hot.
It’s nice to know you will be seeing hook up all day long while enjoying the perfect Nuevo Vallarta weather. What’s wrong with landing huge fish and sucking down a cold Mexican beer is this 72-degree weather with sunny skies. NOTHING
It’s all good when fishing in Nuevo Vallarta during the winter months.
So if you are looking for a sailfish, roosterfish, Mahi Mahi and marlin come to Puerto Vallarta. We have just what you need to get rid of the covid 19 blues.
Hope to see you soon here in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico

The Nuevo Vallarta fishing report here for January 2019 starts off with a big bang just like all the fireworks that we have for New Year’s here. We had an incredible year for 2019 and 2020 started off with even better fishing numbers and beautiful weather. The fishing is as hot as the weather which is around 75 degrees. Fishing forecast is great to incredible.
For the fishermen that are coming down to the Nuevo Vallarta will enjoy beautiful weather, great fishing and seeing the whales along with some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. January is one of the best months to be here for all kind of activities. The bay action started just like the month of December with some fabulous action. All kinds of pelagic fish here in the bay to catch on the shorter trips. Some of our favorite are the rooster fish, mahi mahi also known as Dorado, the great tasting Spanish mackerel along with roosterfish. This time of the year to see some sailfish and the occasional marlin right here inside the bay.
For the trophy hunters that are better coming down looking for the big fish then plan on spending 8 hours plus where we’ve been catching fantastic marlin, tuna, sailfish with some really big mahi mahi. The water temperatures are still holding around 80 degrees in this means hot action with the warm water. We’ve been watching satellite pictures that we received each day. This info gives us an idea on where the fish are biting and feeding.

The mahi-mahi action continues in November. We’re out yesterday hooked up several mahi mahi and saw several sailfish and Marlin. We’re still seeing a lot of tree stumps old stuff floating in the water and this is holding Dorados like crazy. Some days we can pull up and catch the Dorado each cast. Incredible action to put it bluntly.
We’ve had lots of families over the vacation holidays doing lots of bay trips and producing quite a few fish. We have a 13 year old boy landed his first Marlin with his family from Chicago way to go Matt. Can you imagine how exciting this was for him and family.
