Just a quick note to say thanks to many of our repeat clients, the top local charter operators here in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico fishing Captains, and other private boats, we’re able to bring you regular fishing reports of June from many areas around the bay and offshore in Mexico. The Nuevo Vallarta fishing report starts off with the warming of the water around 78 deg. and light rains we have in the evenings during the month of June until the month of October. This helps the inshore and offshore tremendously.  I mentioned last month about the abundance of bait arriving here in bay.  Mullet, sardines, and goggle-eye are just a few of these baits. These conditions will continue throughout the summer months until the Fall.  The only difference will be the arrival of bigger fish and more of them. Some of these incredible fish include marlin, sailfish, mahi-mahi, and the most sought-after yellowfin tuna.  The huge yellowfin tunas follow the bait the thermoclines right into the bay.  As of matter of fact, some of them were showing up during the last part of the month.  With the arrival of warm water and so much bait, you can easily see why anglers love the summertime fishing here in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico. Nuevo Vallarta deep sea fishing

Offshore fishing will start to see more blue marlin and black marlin as the cool water-striped marlin move out to more favorable fishing grounds.  Seems like every time one pelagic species of fish leave our area another shows up just in time to keep the fishing interesting here in our part of the neck of the woods.  Along with the huge marlin, the tuna will pop up around the bay and offshore. With the trade winds and local currents, we have you just never know where they will start to feed.  This is one of the main reasons we use the satellite service( terrafin ) for checking water temp and water clarity before leaving the dock.  This not only cuts down on the time we have to hunt for the fish it gives our boats the upper hand on the other fishing boats.

We all know that May is for mothers day and excellent fishing and Nuevo Vallarta Mexico. If you’re visiting down here to Nuevo Vallarta in the month of May, you’re gonna be able to take out several different fishing trips. In may we have the changing of the waters where cooler water is meeting warmer water. This is great in several ways as the warmer waters bring in the larger fish and all kinds of baitfish. Fishing in May can be rewarding, so make sure you check the weather, water temperature, where the blue water is, and of course last but not least where the fish had been feeding the last couple of days. We always do well in may for several reasons, first and foremost, we have a lot of repeat clients so we’re on the water every day. The next big thing that helps us is terrafin which enables us to see water temps and water clarity. These combined elements help us stay on the fish and help our clients catch more fish. I always say if you find out where the fish are feeding, then you’ll have a fantastic day.

We will be offering short trips in the Bay on our 28-foot super panga four to six hours is perfect we’ve been landing a lot of Spanish mackerel yellowtail snapper and California Bonita additions will hold up for the month of May until the water temperature starts to rise above 78 degrees. We’ll be offering similar trips on our 32 building for groups that are a little bit larger by doing the same kind of fishing ,but can also venture off sure with a 32-footer it’s very comfortable for four people. These trips are usually 8 to 10 hours or can be extended depending on where the fish are running. The April Nuevo Vallarta fishing report looks very similar to the March fishing report. There will be some major changes that will see in the month of April. There will be warmer water, more fish, thermoclines, and a lot more bait in the water. When you start seeing more bait in the water, such as sardines, mullet, macarella, goggle-eye, and bonita this only means one thing. The spring fishing is going to be epic. The warmth of the water brings in all these different kinds of bait that I listed above. And then if you’ve been reading my reports over the years you know when you find the bait you will find the fish. The perfect equation to any fishing trip is fantastic weather which we have plenty of, beautiful blue water, which happens in April, excellent water temperatures, and an abundance of bait. The fish will always be where the bait is, so that’s one of the signs that we look for on a daily basis.

When you are in Nuevo Vallarta during the month of March there are 4 things you’ll surely find. The 1st is gonna be some of the friendliest people in the world, also you will notice have incredible weather during March with cool afternoon breezes on our amazing beaches, many fun activities for spring break, and some of the best fishing in the world.  nuevo vallarta fishing for dorados
During the month of March, we’ll see lot of changes in our fishing grounds and techniques. We’ll start to see the water get hot which is a good thing for the larger marlin, blues, and blacks. We’ll see numerous schools of different bait entering the Bay and just offshore. This is a fantastic fishing factor here in Nuevo  Vallarta. With so much bait around the bay and so many fishing options, you will not know which fishing trip to choose. We have it all from bay fishing, overnight fishing, bottom fishing. Deep-sea fishing, offshore fishing, and reef fishing.
I always like to get people to let me know what they want to fish for when coming to Nuevo Vallarta this time of the year. A lot of people don’t realize March is the best month for rooster fishing here in Vallarta. You will love taking one of our 8-hour fishing trips during this time of the year. With so many coastlines here have incredible Bay fishing along with all the other options I have listed above. And we also have incredible offshore fishing. One of my favorite trips is the 8-hour trip, where will fish inside the Bay and then blast offshore looking for some sailfish and marlin. If the marlin action is not so crazy Marlin then we will come back and hit some of those reefs for snapper, amberjack, and the most sought-after roosterfish.  Check out this marlin action in Nuevo Vallarta
One of the surprising things that you’ll find is that these bait balls can pop up anywhere at any time during the month of March. This happens quite often in the bay of Puerto Vallarta and offshore. As you’ve seen before in my fishing reports we have a lot of factors. We look for many fishing factors, but the number one factor you will find is the bait movement. If you find the bait you will differently find the fish. The fish love the right temperature water, clarity, but last but not least is the bait. Everything gotta eaten and so do the fish. So if you’re on the bait You’re on the fish. So the trick is to be on the bait when you got the right tide either coming in or going out. You will surely be catching fish in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico.

For people love fishing in Nuevo Vallarta in the winter. February is the month here for lovers and for people that love to fish Nuevo Vallarta. With the simple fact, we have hundreds of miles of coastline for fishing and five of the top places in the world to fish. We can obviously see why anglers want to be in Nuevo Vallarta for the month of February.    tuna fishing nuevo vallarta

Just a few of the reasons is we have excellent weather with the water temperature hanging around the mid-70s the ambient water temperature in the mid-70s as well. This is perfect for beachgoers and the folks that love to fish in perfect weather. This produces all kinds of good fishing in the bay and offshore so let’s explore fishing options we have for February.

If you’re going to be fishing short amount of time here in Nuevo Vallarta in February the bay fishing is fantastic. Over the last couple of weeks, we have been catching California Bonita, yellowtail, Mahi – Mahi, some sailfish, and even some striped Marlin inside the bay. Some of the best action has been over on the North Shore is known to produce a lot of fish and it’s called Palo Verde. This is a good spot almost every day in the winter fishing. There are a few shallow spots there for bottom fishing and excellent for trolling. Often we were able to catch the fish schooling on the surface and having incredible action. On most days trolling along with some Pitch, baits have been sufficient to catch limits the four to six fishing trips. It’s also a great opportunity to use some pitch baits and topwater action along this shoreline on the north side of the bay. . If you’re wanting to come down and go for sailfish and Marlin I recommend 8 hours plus trips for offshore fishing. What can you expect in fishing these waters during the month of February ? First striped Marlin, blue and black marlin, dorados, wahoo, and some tuna. There are some places that we use called the Corbetens and El Banco these are 10 and 12-hour trips. These fishing trips offshore are for going for the Big Tuna, the big marlin, and other pelagic fish. Anglers always ask me what it likes to catch one of these huge fish. Well, just imagine holding on to the back bumper of your car for four hrs and not letting go. You will experience this feeling on our fishing trips. We also have some incredible bottom fishing on our 8 Hour trips like the El Morro and some of the reefs out by Punta Mita one of my favorite places to bottom fish is called the Corbetena changing and produces another huge red snapper we catch this time of the year we’re still seeing extraordinary warm waters for this time of the month. The water temperature is hovering around 80 degrees in most places. Where you see these big temperature jumps from 70 degrees to 80 degrees this is where you’ll see the thermoclines and tuna feeding. The one advantage that we have over a lot of these other companies as we fish every day with multiple boats so we have multiple Captains with crews on the water at all the different fishing spots. Happy new year from Nuevo Vallarta, where the fish are always hungry. This last December saw some fantastic action. We had multiple hookups with some sailfish, marlin, mahi-mahi and, much other pelagic fish. This was done mostly to the warmer waters hanging around longer than normal. The water temperatures are still in the high 70’s. Good news for all anglers venturing out for a fun day here in Mexico. Nuevo Vallarta has been on fire to put it lightly. This coming January we are expecting much of the same weather 70 degrees to so and some fabulous fishing inshore and offshore. Seem like the lady anglers we have been taking out are kicking butt and taking names. Take a look at some of these January catches.  nuevo vallarta fishing in january
What can folks expect to catch this January? With the water temperature abnormally high that we are having and the overabundance of bait inside the bay and offshore we are predicting the same as December. Normally when the water changes we have species of fish that leave and look for warmer water or different baits but this year they have stayed. Seems like when one species of fish leave another comes along and keeps the fishing interesting here in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico.
These warm water temps have been producing sailfish out by the islands and offshore in good numbers. Several of our best Capts. Have been catching double and even triple hookups offshore. The marlin bite has been steady. The two best fishing spots are el Banco and Corebetena. The same as the years past. There are the few marlins caught in the bay and along the north shore from time to time. The Mahi-mahi action has been off the charts. We had one-day last week where the clients had 20 dorados in one day and some marlin action. Many of the trips this last month of the year were offshore as the bite was so good. The inshore action lit up the bay with the arrival of the humpback whales and all kinds of good-eating fish. What’s not to like about nonstop rod-bending action all day along with catching some fantastic eating fish to take back to the condo. The Spanish mackerel, California Bonita, snapper, and some Mahi-mahi have kept our fishing anglers busy this January. With the arrival of the new year 2022, we have some new trips to talk about.
We have been getting many requests for fishing and whale watching we decided to offer a fishing/whale watching combo trip. This is a 6 hr trip with grantee success on whales and fish. The humpback whales are here every year from Alaska here from December to March and will have this special trip to offer everyone coming down to beautiful Nuevo Vallarta where the friendliest people in the world live.
