Fishing Report May 2019

Nuevo Vallarta fishing report May 2019. The fishing in Nuevo Vallarta is hot as a firecracker. Warm waters are moving in and all kinds of baits are following them. This large amount of bait brings in all kinds of fish the good eating red snapper the large California Bonita and the Spanish mackerel still hanging around right here in Nuevo Vallarta. When you see these pelagic fish moving you will see the large game Fish moving in right behind them. This is what’s happening in the month of May. The water is warmed up 77 degrees hanging around 78 degrees and we start seeing sailish, Marlin and mahi -mahi. These fish come in to feed on these large bait balls.

What’s the best way to catch a fish right here in Puerto Vallarta. All the really good captains and good boats use a setup with high-speed lures short with teasers, and some long baits. We also stay on the lookout with pitch baits. These pitch rates are usually goggle eyes and once pitched into a school of sailfish or marlin the action begins. We’ve been also using the same pitch baits for some large schools of striped Marlin. There are few other pictures here in Nuevo Vallarta fishing with the results. This morning we had a double Marlin hook up and the other day we had another triple hook up on striped Marlin. Fabulous fishing in Nuevo Vallarta fishing.

Offshore action

You’re looking for the offshore action there are the Big Tuna and some of the larger black and blue Marlins in May. This is a good time to be here. The El Morro it still seems some good action with the sailfish and a few Marlin. The Rock is still hot and tuna’s are still hanging around. There are black and blue marlin big ones to be taken on a lot of chorras 5 to 10 lb baits. When we live bait with 300 lbs. fluorocarbon leaders and fishing with a 10 lb baits you never know what’s going to get that but you do know it’ll be something really big.

Big Game Fishing

The El Faro and Banco is seen some pretty good action with tuna and fast feeding sailfish along with some bigger than Marlin striped. These are the 12 hour trips and I’ve been very very successful. So if you’re looking for a really good action here in Nuevo Vallarta fishing charters May is the month to be here. Fishing report Spring Break 2019

Nuevo Vallarta fishing report for Spring break 2019 is here and in full swing. The fishing is looking good as the fishermen come here on vacation to Nuevo Vallarta Mexico. We had receiving groups fishing from Canada and the United States. With all these clients we couldn’t have had the spectular month that we did last year for all of our trips fishing here. We had a great month fishing with some nice sailfish, mahi – mahi, all kinds of yellowtails and some striped Marlin/ sailfish.

Offshore fishing report

March is when we get our normal trade winds and currents that are good for the deep sea fishing. This brings in a lot of blue water filled with all kinds of bait these pelagic fish love to eat. The water temperatures did move down a little bit and it’s holding steady at about 79 degrees. This means will still be able to see the striped Marlin but would be surprised to see the blue marlin and some black action show up with more consistency.

Inshore fishing & Whale-Watching

Nuevo Vallarta fishing is having fantistic action and lots of deep sea fishing trips. The humpback whales are still here and will be until the last of April. The fishing areas have been calm and overall the fishing has been great. Nuevo Vallarta is still one of the hottest places to fish in Mexico.

Nuevo Vallarta fishing is as good as it gets. The hard fighting Yellowtail have been showing up in huge numbers. Most days we’ve seen schools up almost 200 to 300 fish tear up the bait balls that arrived with these March trade winds. The playful humpback whales are still out close to Nuevo Vallarta and it’s not surprising to see the mom and the baby calf playing that are close by.

Punta de Mita Fishing

Punta Mita fishing is hot this time of the year. Punta Mita fishing is where we usually see the effects of the great tides and trade winds that come in March as it surrounds us in all kinds of bait for the pelagic fish to eat. Just north of Punta Mita fishing still seeing sailfish and some striped Marlin almost every day. These are really great for your 10-hour fishing trips up to 12 hrs. trips offshore for the big ones.

The fishing here in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico is good to excellent. We’re still waiting to see who the really good numbers and the schooling roosterfish and more sailfish. As the water heats up so will the fishing.

Puerto Vallarta fishing report February

Puerto Vallarta fishing report February incredible. Some things have changed since our last fishing report in January. The fishing is hot in most of the offshore fishing places we fish all through the year. The inshore action it’s still good and catching a lot of the California bonita, yellowtail, Spanish mackerel, dorados and also some other game fish like roosterfish along the South Shore. This kind of fishing action is hard to beat here in Puerto Vallarta Mexico.

puerto vallarta deep sea fishing

The one big difference in our deep sea  fishing is that we have in the month of February and March is weather changes in the wind and some waves. These are the two months of the year where we can have wind and waves but nothing really big here and our beautiful Bay in Puerto Vallarta. The fishing remains the same as the last couple of months but where and how we catch a lot of big fish changes. When fishng inside the bay and outside we just have to check out what the wind is doing and make appropriate changes. In most days early in the morning the seas are super flat but in the afternoon they can pick up a bit . The winds can pick up to 15 knots on some days offshore.  When this happens we have to change lures and methods of fishing to catch fish offshore.  Kite fishing works well with a little bit of wind.
The offshore action still really strong with some Striped Marlin, sailfish and some of the mahi – mahis. This is of my favorite times of the year we like to run offshore early in the mornings see if we can pick up some large game fish like Marlin or sailfish and then in the afternoons come back to some of the areas around reefs. There are  rooster fish, yellowtail and other game fish. These kind of fishing trips are done usually in 8 hours and have good success for hooking up on some of our larger fish. When live baiting around the reefs there are several options for fish. The roosterfish love to hang around the shallow reefs. Some of the other fish like the snapper, yellowtail and even mahi -mahi feed in these shallow

puerto vallarta fishing report february

These are perfect for 6 hrs. trips in the waters off the Puerto Vallarta fishing coast.
The month of February offers great fishing times. The best fishing this time of the year is offshore early for the big ones and inshore in the afternoon. This is like having a two for one trips. The best of both worlds in fishing here in Puerto Vallarta.
The inshore action is hardy ever effected by the strong trades winds here during the month if February and March. The main reason is the bay is so well protected by our beautiful mountains that surround our bay.

puerto vallarta fishing in February

The Puerto Vallarta bay fishing remains incredible and every day more sardines are showing up. The bait movement alone is the reason to be here fishing in Puerto Vallarta. Some of the other incredible factors are the friendly people, whale watching, hundreds of great dining restaurants to chose from along with where some of the best winter fishing you can find here in Mexico.

Fishing Report August 2018

The summer fishing here in Puerto Vallarta is one of the best times to fish if not the best. Check the fishing report august 2018: For short trips, there are yellowtails, bonita, snapper, Spanish mackerel and much other game fish in the bay. These trips are perfect for those who don’t want to spend all day on the water. The length of these trips would be 6 to 8 hrs.

Deep-sea fishing

For folks that want to fish for sailfish and mahi-mahi, the fish is great just offshore. The water is still warm and holds mahi-mahi also know as dorados here in Mexico. The best bet is to fish one of the current lines early in the morning for dorados and then in the afternoon go for the sailfish. November is the very best month for sailfish here in Puerto Vallarta fishing.

Big game

For fishermen that want to go for the big tuna and marlin, the action is always hot this time of the year offshore. There are three main fishing spots we fish during this time of the year. The Corbetena is one of the best and can be done in 10 hrs if you on the right boat. That means be sure you have a good sportfisher that can at least cruise at 15 knots and if not rent a good boat.

The next place that holds big tuna and marlin is El Banco which is 50 miles offshore and most of the really big fish come from this spot. It’s an underwater knoll that rises from 800 feet of water to just 50 feet and holds bait there almost year round. All the fish big game hunters are looking to catch is here. If you fish El banco 10 times 9 times you will come home with the fish of a lifetime.

The legendary Marias Islands

Marias are known as the ultimate fishing grounds. Here is one of the top 10 places to fish in the world. The islands are 80 miles offshore and we do 2.5-day trips out to the islands for the trip you will never forget. I been there numerous times and have never had a bad trip there. They hold tuna, sailfish, marlin, dorados, snapper and all the above in great numbers. The Maria islands are restricted as for where we can fish, as Mexico had a penal system there that holds about 3000 inmates. New update here in Nuevo Vallarta.  They have been removed at the fishing grounds. There are four islands and the fishing here is great year round.

The choice is yours from 4 hrs. to overnight trips but Fall fish in Puerto Vallarta can’t be beat
