Nuevo Vallarta fishing report December 2022

The Nuevo Vallarta fishing report starts off with some major changes this month. First is the cooling weather and some water temperature changes In the bay and offshore. We had incredible fishing temperatures in November to fish off of. The temperatures were around 78 degrees. Since the temperatures had dropped a few degrees inshore and offshore fishing. We have had to rethink our fishing places and plans.  Such as switching lures, running different baits, and changing some of the fishing spots we like in the winter months.  The water never gets really cold here in the Bay of Nuevo Vallarta or offshore. But it does have an effect on our fishing and the way that we fish during the winter months. Let’s take a look at some inshore action first. fishing in Nuevo Vallarta December

For the inshore fishing, there will still be mahi-mahi around, yellowtail, roosterfish, Spanish mackerel, snapper and the fantastic eating California Bonita. The best way to catch these is on the troll. If we are lucky enough, we find them schooling and can use some pitch baits or different jigs we have for casting. We will start seeing large schools of the yellowtail here and they are usually caught on live bait. If you catch them surfacing here on top of the water on some of the bait balls that are moving in for the winter months they’ll bite on anything. We should start seeing some more roosterfish with some snapper over on the South Shore in a couple of coves where we catch fish in the winter months. This is typically done with live bait or some pitch baits. It’s not uncommon this time of the year to start seeing schools of snapper inside the Bay and just offshore. If you’re looking for a fun time this winter and don’t wanna spend all day on a boat choose one of our four or six-hour trips and you’ll have the time of your life here in Nuevo Vallarta. Around Christmas time everyone thinks folks are around the fireplace with grandma, but I guarantee you a lot of them are gonna be down here on the beach with us or offshore fishing.

nuevo vallarta fishing report

The offshore fishing will change as the water cools down some of the larger marlin and tunas will move further offshore. They will be replaced by the striped Marlin. These fish love the cooler water and of course, the tuna we catch will be working around on the thermoclines. You can find tuna schooling sometimes, but not as much as in the Fall. One of our favorite trips is 8 hours going out for a big game fish like sailfish, striped Marlin, and Mahi- Mahi. If the action is not there we can always revert back and come into some of the places that are producing great action inside the Bay and catch a boatload of fish for our clients.

During the winter months, the best type of fishing offshore is trolling using skip baits with some high-speed lures along with sewn-up baits like goggle eye or mullet. When we know there’s a large concentration of Marlin or tuna around, we’d love to fish with the 5 to 10 lbs live baits. Three rules of fishing offshore live bait, live bait, and of course, live bait.

Some sailfish action right here.

As I said inside the Bay the water had dropped a little bit cooler so you’re looking at some 75 to 76 deg. Here inside the bay in most places. Offshore fishing is seeing a little warmer water at 78 deg. Most places have fantastic water clarity. The wind is laid down and is pretty flat for most of the trips that we’ve been doing. If you’re coming down for the weekend and just want to check the latest conditions feel free to give me captain Pete a call on our toll-free line. 800 4306048. We’ll be more than happy to answer any questions about fishing or any other water-related sports or upcoming weather conditions.

Nuevo Vallarta fishing report for the month of September 2022

This Labor day our fishing report starts off with more great news of what we had last month.  The larger marlin, sailfish and mah-mahi have started to move into our fishing grounds here in Nuevo Vallarta. . The weather has been perfect with the minus passing of a few storms offshore. Not many people know September as one of the better months to fish in Nuevo Vallarta. First, there are less people here with school back in full swing in the United States and Mexico. Second, we have more bait that comes into our bay and offshore fishing area. If you read my fishing reports you will always here me talk about following the bait trail. If you are on the bait you will be on the fish. One of the last factors is it’s still summertime and the days are long.  Sun comes up here in September at 7.30 am and sets about 8.30 p.m. Giving up plenty of daylight hrs. to hunt down any type of fish you may be looking for. September is a great month for dorados, sailfish, marlin, tuna and all the game fish you want to catch in the bay of Nuevo Vallarta. Let’s talk about where we fish in the month of September.sailfish in nuevo vallarta

The bay fishing happens in Nuevo Vallarta to the south side of the bay. Here on the south side of the bay the Los Arcos,Qimixto,Los Animas and Yelapa are always good gashing in the month of September. If you are set up for all the fish we catch in the bay you might see some billfish behind your spread. Happens all the time so keep a sharp lookout on the short corner. The marlin and sailfish love to surprise us by taking a black bart lures of even a sewn-up mullet bait.

A little know fact is that the sailfish love this south side of the bay when the moon if full.  There will half the fishermen that don’t like a full moon and the other half of the anglers love the full moon. I guess I have to be neutral on this point as I have had some incredible days on the full moon and some that have not been great days. Leave us a comment on the full moon debate down below.

The north side of the bay seems better for yellowtail,(sometimes schooling ) Spanish mackerel, skip jack tuna, mahi-mahi and some roosterfish.  We depart from Nuevo some days and get lucky fishing the area of La Cruz all the way up to Punta Mita. The are several favorite fishing spots along this shore of the bay. Palo Verde in one of the best and you never know what will be biting around this knoll. I’ve seen snapper all the way to sailfish in September taking our baits along the beautiful beach area. Be sure and take extra bait in the part of the bay. You might find the fish schooling in this month of fishing here. To see what you can expect to catch offshore please take a look at the offshore fishing report in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico. What are the cost for fishing in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico

nuevo vallarta fishing for roosterfish

This September we will be busy fishing offshore around Labor day. We will be fishing several offshore destinations like the El Morro. The Morro is known for it’s close proximity to Nuevo Vallarta located just outside the bay. The sailfish, marlin and mahi-mahi loves the area. This is just offshore and cab be done in an 8 hr. trip. This fishing area holds bait from the abundance of bait and reefs. The roosterfish and amberjack love to feed in this honey hole of a fishing spot. I’ve also landed huge marlin in September here . Fishing with small tuna or large bonitas of 5 to ten lbs. can produce some very productive fishing.

For the more adventurous angler we have the Corbetena and El Banco. These offshore trips are 10 to 14 hrs. The first Cortbetena hold marlin and tuna all year round. There is always bait there hence the fish congregate around the area depending on the water tempertures and water clarity.  If you have the right tempertures and deep dark blue water. Watch out.  The big fish will be there.

El Banco is about 50 miles offshore and holds everything you can fish for in the Pacific ocean.  This is the mecca of fishing ground out of Nuevo Vallarta. I’ve fished here for over 35 years and know of only one fishing spot that is better. Can anyone guess where it is at ?snapper fishing in nuevo vallarta

As you can see for the month of September we have you cover for either offshore fishing or bay fishing. We have a toll free number to check the weather and fishing reports before coming down.  Just let us know how many are in your group/family and I will personally guarantee you a fabulous day on the water here.

Hope to see everyone out there on the water. Take a look at what other said about our Nuevo Vallarta fishing charters.

Nuevo Vallarta fishing report May

We all know that May is for mothers day and excellent fishing and Nuevo Vallarta Mexico. If you’re visiting down here to Nuevo Vallarta in the month of May, you’re gonna be able to take out several different fishing trips. In may we have the changing of the waters where cooler water is meeting warmer water. This is great in several ways as the warmer waters bring in the larger fish and all kinds of baitfish. The mullet, shad, sardines, bonitos, and goggle-eye are just a few.may fishing in Nuevo Vallarta

Fishing in May can be rewarding, so make sure you check the weather, water temperature, where the blue water is, and of course last but not least where the fish had been feeding the last couple of days. We always do well in may for several reasons, first and foremost, we have a lot of repeat clients so we’re on the water every day. The next big thing that helps us is terrafin which enables us to see water temps and water clarity. These combined elements help us stay on the fish and help our clients catch more fish. I always say if you find out where the fish are feeding, then you’ll have a fantastic day.

See what the boats and best Captains have been catching in Nuevo Vallarta fishing.

We will be offering short trips in the Bay on our 28-foot super panga four to six hours is perfect we’ve been landing a lot of Spanish mackerel yellowtail snapper and California Bonita additions will hold up for the month of May until the water temperature starts to rise above 78 degrees. Check out the fantastic prices we have online.

We’ll be offering similar trips on our 32 building for groups that are a little bit larger by doing the same kind of fishing ,but can also venture off sure with a 32-footer it’s very comfortable for four people. Our most requested boat the 40-footer is for offshore trips looking for sailfish, marlin, tuna, and the fantastic eating mahi-mahi. These trips are usually 8 to 10 hours or can be extended depending on where the fish are running. Be sure and give us a call at our toll-free number if you have any questions about the fishing conditions, which boat you guys should take, and where the fish are biting. Will be more than happy to help out in any way.

Nuevo Vallarta fishing report March

When you are in Nuevo Vallarta during the month of March there are 4 things you’ll surely find. The 1st is gonna be some of the friendliest people in the world, also you will notice have incredible weather during March with cool afternoon breezes on our amazing beaches, many fun activities for spring break, and some of the best fishing in the world.  nuevo vallarta fishing for dorados
During the month of March, we’ll see lot of changes in our fishing grounds and techniques. We’ll start to see the water get hot which is a good thing for the larger marlin, blues, and blacks. We’ll see numerous schools of different bait entering the Bay and just offshore. This is a fantastic fishing factor here in Nuevo  Vallarta. With so much bait around the bay and so many fishing options, you will not know which fishing trip to choose. We have it all from bay fishing, overnight fishing, bottom fishing. Deep-sea fishing, offshore fishing, and reef fishing.
I always like to get people to let me know what they want to fish for when coming to Nuevo Vallarta this time of the year. A lot of people don’t realize March is the best month for rooster fishing here in Vallarta. You will love taking one of our 8-hour fishing trips during this time of the year. With so many coastlines here have incredible Bay fishing along with all the other options I have listed above. And we also have incredible offshore fishing. Take a look at our incredible deep sea fishing rates.sailfish in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico
One of my favorite trips is the 8-hour trip, where will fish inside the Bay and then blast offshore looking for some sailfish and marlin. If the marlin action is not so crazy Marlin then we will come back and hit some of those reefs for snapper, amberjack, and the most sought-after roosterfish.  Check out this marlin action in Nuevo Vallarta
One of the surprising things that you’ll find is that these bait balls can pop up anywhere at any time during the month of March. This happens quite often in the bay of Puerto Vallarta and offshore. As you’ve seen before in my fishing reports we have a lot of factors. We look for many fishing factors, but the number one factor you will find is the bait movement. If you find the bait you will differently find the fish. The fish love the right temperature water, clarity, but last but not least is the bait. Everything gotta eaten and so do the fish. So if you’re on the bait You’re on the fish. So the trick is to be on the bait when you got the right tide either coming in or going out. You will surely be catching fish in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico.
When the new folks are coming around Nuevo Vallarta that may need help and choosing the right size boat or the right day just give us a call. We’ve been here for over 35 years helping folks from Bay fishing to 3 – 4-day offshore fishing trips.
If we can’t catch it you don’t wanna hook it
Hope to see everyone out there on the water having good success here and beautiful Nuevo Vallarta, where the friendliest people in the world live.
Until next time we’ll keep a hot fishing rod and a cold beer on the boat waiting for you
