Nuevo Vallarta fishing report December 2022

The Nuevo Vallarta fishing report starts off with some major changes this month. First is the cooling weather and some water temperature changes In the bay and offshore. We had incredible fishing temperatures in November to fish off of. The temperatures were around 78 degrees. Since the temperatures had dropped a few degrees inshore and offshore fishing. We have had to rethink our fishing places and plans.  Such as switching lures, running different baits, and changing some of the fishing spots we like in the winter months.  The water never gets really cold here in the Bay of Nuevo Vallarta or offshore. But it does have an effect on our fishing and the way that we fish during the winter months. Let’s take a look at some inshore action first. fishing in Nuevo Vallarta December

For the inshore fishing, there will still be mahi-mahi around, yellowtail, roosterfish, Spanish mackerel, snapper and the fantastic eating California Bonita. The best way to catch these is on the troll. If we are lucky enough, we find them schooling and can use some pitch baits or different jigs we have for casting. We will start seeing large schools of the yellowtail here and they are usually caught on live bait. If you catch them surfacing here on top of the water on some of the bait balls that are moving in for the winter months they’ll bite on anything. We should start seeing some more roosterfish with some snapper over on the South Shore in a couple of coves where we catch fish in the winter months. This is typically done with live bait or some pitch baits. It’s not uncommon this time of the year to start seeing schools of snapper inside the Bay and just offshore. If you’re looking for a fun time this winter and don’t wanna spend all day on a boat choose one of our four or six-hour trips and you’ll have the time of your life here in Nuevo Vallarta. Around Christmas time everyone thinks folks are around the fireplace with grandma, but I guarantee you a lot of them are gonna be down here on the beach with us or offshore fishing.

nuevo vallarta fishing report

The offshore fishing will change as the water cools down some of the larger marlin and tunas will move further offshore. They will be replaced by the striped Marlin. These fish love the cooler water and of course, the tuna we catch will be working around on the thermoclines. You can find tuna schooling sometimes, but not as much as in the Fall. One of our favorite trips is 8 hours going out for a big game fish like sailfish, striped Marlin, and Mahi- Mahi. If the action is not there we can always revert back and come into some of the places that are producing great action inside the Bay and catch a boatload of fish for our clients.

During the winter months, the best type of fishing offshore is trolling using skip baits with some high-speed lures along with sewn-up baits like goggle eye or mullet. When we know there’s a large concentration of Marlin or tuna around, we’d love to fish with the 5 to 10 lbs live baits. Three rules of fishing offshore live bait, live bait, and of course, live bait.

Some sailfish action right here.

As I said inside the Bay the water had dropped a little bit cooler so you’re looking at some 75 to 76 deg. Here inside the bay in most places. Offshore fishing is seeing a little warmer water at 78 deg. Most places have fantastic water clarity. The wind is laid down and is pretty flat for most of the trips that we’ve been doing. If you’re coming down for the weekend and just want to check the latest conditions feel free to give me captain Pete a call on our toll-free line. 800 4306048. We’ll be more than happy to answer any questions about fishing or any other water-related sports or upcoming weather conditions.

Merry Fishmas and hope to see everyone out there on the water here in Nuevo Vallarta fishing.

fishing in nuevo vallarta June

The Nuevo Vallarta fishing report starts off with the warming of the water around 78 deg. and light rains we have in the evenings during the month of June until the month of October. This helps the inshore and offshore tremendously.  I mentioned last month about the abundance of bait arriving here in bay.  Mullet, sardines, and goggle-eye are just a few of these baits. These conditions will continue throughout the summer months until the Fall.  The only difference will be the arrival of bigger fish and more of them. Some of these incredible fish include marlin, sailfish, mahi-mahi, and the most sought-after yellowfin tuna.  The huge yellowfin tunas follow the bait the thermoclines right into the bay.  As of matter of fact, some of them were showing up during the last part of the month.  With the arrival of warm water and so much bait, you can easily see why anglers love the summertime fishing here in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico. There will be numerous families visiting us here in Mexico over the summer months for fishing and what a perfect time to do so.  Let us help you customize a family fishing trip. The bay fishing will be hot as June in Texas. Now that’s hot! Hope you will be able to come down and enjoy the hot action. Be sure and check out our prices here online.

Nuevo Vallarta deep sea fishing

Offshore fishing will start to see more blue marlin and black marlin as the cool water-striped marlin move out to more favorable fishing grounds.  Seems like every time one pelagic species of fish leave our area another shows up just in time to keep the fishing interesting here in our part of the neck of the woods.  Along with the huge marlin, the tuna will pop up around the bay and offshore. With the trade winds and local currents, we have you just never know where they will start to feed.  This is one of the main reasons we use the satellite service( terrafin ) for checking water temp and water clarity before leaving the dock.  This not only cuts down on the time we have to hunt for the fish it gives our boats the upper hand on the other fishing boats.

If you are looking for some fun times, fantastic beaches, friendly people, family fun, incredible restaurants, and some of the best fishing on the planet come to Nuevo Vallarta fishing this summer. June is when the fishing really starts to get good here in Nuevo Vallarta.

Nuevo Vallarta fishing report January

Happy new year from Nuevo Vallarta, where the fish are always hungry. This last December saw some fantastic action. We had multiple hookups with some sailfish, marlin, mahi-mahi and, much other pelagic fish. This was done mostly to the warmer waters hanging around longer than normal. The water temperatures are still in the high 70’s. Good news for all anglers venturing out for a fun day here in Mexico. Nuevo Vallarta has been on fire to put it lightly. This coming January we are expecting much of the same weather 70 degrees to so and some fabulous fishing inshore and offshore. Seem like the lady anglers we have been taking out are kicking butt and taking names. Take a look at some of these January catches.  nuevo vallarta fishing in january
What can folks expect to catch this January? With the water temperature abnormally high that we are having and the overabundance of bait inside the bay and offshore we are predicting the same as December. Normally when the water changes we have species of fish that leave and look for warmer water or different baits but this year they have stayed. Seems like when one species of fish leave another comes along and keeps the fishing interesting here in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico.
These warm water temps have been producing sailfish out by the islands and offshore in good numbers. Several of our best Capts. Have been catching double and even triple hookups offshore. The marlin bite has been steady. The two best fishing spots are el Banco and Corebetena. The same as the years past. There are the few marlins caught in the bay and along the north shore from time to time. The Mahi-mahi action has been off the charts. We had one-day last week where the clients had 20 dorados in one day and some marlin action. Many of the trips this last month of the year were offshore as the bite was so good. I’m sure we will be having much of the same this coming month. Check out some of the best rates in Nuevo Vallarta fishing.
The inshore action lit up the bay with the arrival of the humpback whales and all kinds of good-eating fish. What’s not to like about nonstop rod-bending action all day along with catching some fantastic eating fish to take back to the condo. The Spanish mackerel, California Bonita, snapper, and some Mahi-mahi have kept our fishing anglers busy this January. With the arrival of the new year 2022, we have some new trips to talk about.
We have been getting many requests for fishing and whale watching we decided to offer a fishing/whale watching combo trip. This is a 6 hr trip with grantee success on whales and fish. The humpback whales are here every year from Alaska here from December to March and will have this special trip to offer everyone coming down to beautiful Nuevo Vallarta where the friendliest people in the world live. Nuevo Vallarta fishing report August

Hola from Nuevo Vallarta where the August fishing continues to be amazing. We’re coming up on our summertime fishing here in Mexico.  The fishing is as hot as the weather. My captains have been reporting inshore fishing is incredible. Water temperatures have been cooler than normal, abundant bait and with the COVID-19 there are fewer boats out on the water. This is increasing our fishing hookups and good size fish. If fishing this summer in Mexico in your vacation plans then Nuevo Vallarta is where you need to be.  Nuevo Vallarta fishing

Inshore fishing has also been producing many yellowtails we had six fish on at the same time the other day. There have also been some yellowfin tuna over by a Yalapa for the 6-hour bay fishing trips. The roosterfish have been tearing up the water and are here in good numbers. With these kinds of fishing conditions in Nuevo Vallarta the success rate of great days has been fantastic. Before coming down to Nuevo Vallarta shoot us a quick email so we can give you the latest conditions and fishing report.

Several of our offshore captains are catching sailfish in good numbers. The mahi-mahi I’ve been hitting offshore and inshore with incredible numbers. With these kinds of conditions, you can expect numerous hook up either inshore or offshore. You’re coming down and looking for a big marlin the offshore action is where you need to be. Starting to see some of the really big ones here.  The black marlin is here and still seeing the blue marlin mixed in with these huge fish.

Be sure and check out our fantastic fishing rates in Nuevo Vallarta

The marlin is ranging from 250 all the way up to 750 lbs.  The water temperature is holding around 80 degrees.  This is ideal for all kinds of pelagic fish.

Most of these gigantic Marlin are feeding on live bait. We are also having good luck on our black Bart lures and skipping baits. The offshore action has been so good we’re seeing numerous hookups in one day. If you’re looking for a summertime vacation or coming this August o Nuevo  Vallarta we have all the fishing action you can handle. If you’ll give us a heads-up on when you’re coming and how many people will be in your group and I’ll personally guarantee we will put you on the right boat with the right crew. Look forward to seeing everyone out there on the water. Stay safe and see you soon here in beautiful Nuevo Vallarta  where the fish are always biting.

We are also known for the friendliest crews in Mexico.

Fishing report Spring Break 2019

Nuevo Vallarta fishing report for Spring break 2019 is here and in full swing. The fishing is looking good as the fishermen come here on vacation to Nuevo Vallarta Mexico. We had receiving groups fishing from Canada and the United States. With all these clients we couldn’t have had the spectular month that we did last year for all of our trips fishing here. We had a great month fishing with some nice sailfish, mahi – mahi, all kinds of yellowtails and some striped Marlin/ sailfish.

Offshore fishing report

March is when we get our normal trade winds and currents that are good for the deep sea fishing. This brings in a lot of blue water filled with all kinds of bait these pelagic fish love to eat. The water temperatures did move down a little bit and it’s holding steady at about 79 degrees. This means will still be able to see the striped Marlin but would be surprised to see the blue marlin and some black action show up with more consistency.

Inshore fishing & Whale-Watching

Nuevo Vallarta fishing is having fantistic action and lots of deep sea fishing trips. The humpback whales are still here and will be until the last of April. The fishing areas have been calm and overall the fishing has been great. Nuevo Vallarta is still one of the hottest places to fish in Mexico.

Nuevo Vallarta fishing is as good as it gets. The hard fighting Yellowtail have been showing up in huge numbers. Most days we’ve seen schools up almost 200 to 300 fish tear up the bait balls that arrived with these March trade winds. The playful humpback whales are still out close to Nuevo Vallarta and it’s not surprising to see the mom and the baby calf playing that are close by.

Punta de Mita Fishing

Punta Mita fishing is hot this time of the year. Punta Mita fishing is where we usually see the effects of the great tides and trade winds that come in March as it surrounds us in all kinds of bait for the pelagic fish to eat. Just north of Punta Mita fishing still seeing sailfish and some striped Marlin almost every day. These are really great for your 10-hour fishing trips up to 12 hrs. trips offshore for the big ones.

The fishing here in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico is good to excellent. We’re still waiting to see who the really good numbers and the schooling roosterfish and more sailfish. As the water heats up so will the fishing.

Puerto Vallarta fishing report February

Puerto Vallarta fishing report February incredible. Some things have changed since our last fishing report in January. The fishing is hot in most of the offshore fishing places we fish all through the year. The inshore action it’s still good and catching a lot of the California bonita, yellowtail, Spanish mackerel, dorados and also some other game fish like roosterfish along the South Shore. This kind of fishing action is hard to beat here in Puerto Vallarta Mexico.

puerto vallarta deep sea fishing

The one big difference in our deep sea  fishing is that we have in the month of February and March is weather changes in the wind and some waves. These are the two months of the year where we can have wind and waves but nothing really big here and our beautiful Bay in Puerto Vallarta. The fishing remains the same as the last couple of months but where and how we catch a lot of big fish changes. When fishng inside the bay and outside we just have to check out what the wind is doing and make appropriate changes. In most days early in the morning the seas are super flat but in the afternoon they can pick up a bit . The winds can pick up to 15 knots on some days offshore.  When this happens we have to change lures and methods of fishing to catch fish offshore.  Kite fishing works well with a little bit of wind.
The offshore action still really strong with some Striped Marlin, sailfish and some of the mahi – mahis. This is of my favorite times of the year we like to run offshore early in the mornings see if we can pick up some large game fish like Marlin or sailfish and then in the afternoons come back to some of the areas around reefs. There are  rooster fish, yellowtail and other game fish. These kind of fishing trips are done usually in 8 hours and have good success for hooking up on some of our larger fish. When live baiting around the reefs there are several options for fish. The roosterfish love to hang around the shallow reefs. Some of the other fish like the snapper, yellowtail and even mahi -mahi feed in these shallow

puerto vallarta fishing report february

These are perfect for 6 hrs. trips in the waters off the Puerto Vallarta fishing coast.
The month of February offers great fishing times. The best fishing this time of the year is offshore early for the big ones and inshore in the afternoon. This is like having a two for one trips. The best of both worlds in fishing here in Puerto Vallarta.
The inshore action is hardy ever effected by the strong trades winds here during the month if February and March. The main reason is the bay is so well protected by our beautiful mountains that surround our bay.

puerto vallarta fishing in February

The Puerto Vallarta bay fishing remains incredible and every day more sardines are showing up. The bait movement alone is the reason to be here fishing in Puerto Vallarta. Some of the other incredible factors are the friendly people, whale watching, hundreds of great dining restaurants to chose from along with where some of the best winter fishing you can find here in Mexico.
Come and enjoy the Puerto Vallarta Charter fishing report. We are ready for deep sea fishing ,whale watching or just hanging out in the bay snorkeling/diving
